MONEY MATTERS
We accept all major credit cards and accept Euro banknotes (5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 only). Coins are not accepted nor are 100 or 200 Euro banknotes.
SWIMMING POOL and SAUNA
Take the plunge and cool off in the summer, or relax after a long day walking around town. Our indoor pool is open all year round for a dip or you could just get steamy in the sauna with a few new friends. The pool and sauna are open everyday from 8am 'til 10pm.
PARKING
We have an "off-street" secure car park that is available for all guests for just 300czk per stay.
CURRENCY RATES AND PAYMENTS
Please note we can only accept Czech Koruny for final payments for your bed at the hostel. All beds sold are priced in Czech Koruny. By all means you may pay your initial deposit in the currency of your choice i.e Euros or US Dollars online, but final payment must be made in Czech Koruny as per your booking. While we are only too happy to change currency other than Czech into our local currency, please note that this will be at the market rate that is set by the hostel and might differ from the rate when you paid your deposit online as market rates fluctuate on a daily basis.
Directions to the hostel in 2 easy steps!
Step 1: Get to Holesovice metro station
From Hlavní Nádraží (central railway station) or Florenc bus station:
Buy a 32czk travel ticket (this will be good for both the metro and tram journey). Validate your ticket in the yellow boxes before going down to the metro platform.
Take Metro line C (red line) direction Letňany, and get off at Nádraží Holešovice. Turn left when you step off the train carriage and go up the escalator. Go to step 2.
From Holesovice rail station (Nádraží Holesovice). Buy a 24czk travel ticket, walk through the pedestrian tunnel (follow the Mc Donald’s sign) to the other side of the metro station. Go to step 2.
From the Airport take the Airport Express bus (50czk runs every 30 minutes) to Hlavní Nádraží (central railway station). Walk into the station concourse. Buy a 24czk travel ticket; walk through the pedestrian tunnel (follow the Mc Donald’s sign) to the metro station. Go to Nádraží Holešovice (Metro Line C, 3 stations in direction Letňany). Go to step 2.
To and from the airport

Step 2: Get to the hostel
From Holešovice metro station exit from the front, cross the tram rails to the other side of the road and from there take any tram.
Validate your tram ticket in the yellow box on the tram (if you have just come off the metro, you don’t need to validate it again) and go one stop to Ortenovo Námestí.
On the corner you will see the Hotel Plaza Alta, walk in this direction. You can see the hostel from here on your left side; just a 2 minute walk from tram stop to hostel.

Our man on the ground, Chris Martin (no, not that one) has given us his intricate view on what's happening in Prague (especially around the hostel) this month.
There's plenty going on in the local area so a bit of a focus on Prague 7:
Tucnak Festival 7-10.11 at La Fabrika, Prague 7's coolest mixed art space hosts an event specific for emerging young talent artists events include music, film screenings and theatre performances.
DOX gallery amongst other excellent exhibitions features Jan Jakub Kotik and his works "Forces of resistance" This gallery is a must see for all who stay in Prague 7.
This year "cannafest" exhibition takes place a stone's throw away from the hostel at the Incheba Expo Centre 9-11th November. Covering all things Hemp and Marijuana related including culture, art, medicine and technology. Some discount vouchers available at the reception.
Many excellent bands visit the city this month with Beach House, Flying Lotus and The Cribs playing at "Meet factory". Whilst Lucerna Music bar plays host to Shearwater, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Thin Lizzy. With none other than the legendary DJ Shadow playing live at the Archa Theatre as part of the Radio Wave Stimul Festival. Not forgetting probably the best live act in the world the kings of the arena MUSE play the O2 on 22nd November.
Be sure to check out the events at Prague's 3 best clubs Sazazu, Mecca and Cross Club all have full programs for November and whilst all a bit different are all unmissable if you want to say you partied Prague in style. What's more they are all just a short stumble back home to the hostel.
If sport is your thing don't miss out on the opportunity to see some truly great hockey, Sparta Prague play hosts to Plzen on 14th November. Czech ice hockey at its highest standard and with their rink just a short distance from the hostel, a great start to a night out in Prague we think:). Also Live tennis action taking place with the Czech Rep taking on Spain between 16th-18th November in the Davis Cup.
Also, the fabulous people at "Energym" around the corner from the hostel are offering 10% off for all PLUS guests. Now that's something to be "pumped up" about.

Heading to Prague in November? We'll be listing a number of cool things that we think PLUS Prague people will enjoy. Cannafest - the international "hemp" fair (yes, hemp) is on in late November. It's a popular one amongst backpackers of all ages. Both happen to be gracing the stage in the Czech capital (no, not together.... although). PLUS Tips To Help You With Your Travels

From the freedom and discovering the "unknown" to the general excitement of just "living life" - travelling the world is one of the greatest feelings you'll ever have.
Although the majority of your trip will be positive, sometimes things will happen outside of your control that can effect your travels (these are a huge pain at the time but often end up becoming great stories). Here at PLUS we wanted to share some small tips with you that could help you during your trip.
Bed Bugs
Despite the regularity in which we fumigate our rooms, bed bugs can unknowingly be brought in from the outside via clothes, bags, hair and anything else they can latch onto. We always do our very best to get rid of them immediately, though sometimes it's too late by the time we find out. Here's a great link we found on dealing with bed bugs.
Theft
Unfortunately all it takes is 2 seconds for a thief to take what he/she wants. Whether it be in the hostel or whilst sightseeing you should always be on allert and take precautions. This doesn't necessarily mean having 2 wallets or wearing an uber fashionable "bum bag" (or fanny pack for those of you from across the Atlantic) - just keep your wits about you. Make sure you have travel insurance on the more expensive things such as laptops, tablets and high end cameras etc etc. Use lockers and safes provided. All of our properties have these available.
Comfort
Plastic bags are a life saver! Wet clothes, dirty shoes, anything that smells - throw it into a plastic bag.
For long haul travel an inflatable cushion is a great idea as is anything with music to keep your sanity.
Running shoes and flip flops (thongs or jandals) should be the only real footwear you need. High heels and Paul Smith brogues probably don't need to be shoved in your backpack before anything else.
Hair straighteners and hair dryers will be found at most hostels these days, so you probably won't need to pack these.
Hygiene
Most hostels will have a laundry room to to wash and dry your clothes. You obviously don't have to do this everyday, but nobody wants to sit next to the smelly person on the train, so wash your clothes regularly enough to keep your new travel friends.
Shower gel and soap aren't provided like in hotels. You might be lucky at some hostels providing it as an extra service. The best thing to do is carry your own toiletries. If you're flying - remember to keep the liquids below 100ml per container.
Money
A credit card will definitely come in handy. Check before leaving in regards to foreign fees. If you're going to use your bank card, inform your bank before leaving on any long trips as they will freeze your card due to any strange activity.
Never carry too much cash, as once it's gone - it's gone (and a lot harder to keep track of).

The Roots: 7th August Lucerna Music bar. The band fronted by the ever-vocal & charismatic Black Thought will be playing a number of hits from their 12 studio albums their most recent release, Undun.
Foo Fighters: 15th August O2 arena. Seattle legends visit Prague to play hits from their seven studio albums!
Afghan Whigs: 15th-16th August Lucerna Music bar. American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, originally active from 1986 to 2001. Reformed and rocking in Prague!
BUSH: 22nd-23rd August Lucerna music bar. Alternative rock band formed in London had a short hiatus, but have sounded better than ever since their return. Catch them in Prague! BUSH - Baby Come Home

Cultural Festivals
13-19. Prague Pride: A 7-day festival that offers a wide variety of cultural events and parties with a LGBT+ focus which will culminate on Saturday, August 18, in a downtown parade. The parade and subsequent concert on the Střelecký ostrov will be completely free to attend for all! Look out for our preview article coming soon! Prague Pride will consist of a 7 day festival that offers a wide variety of cultural events and parties, that will culminate on Saturday, the 18th of August, in the downtown parade. The parade and subsequent concert on the Strelecky Island will be completely free to attend for all.
Many bars, clubs and other venues are organising their own side events, from exhibitions, cinema and theatre performances to circuit parties. Some of the parties and side events might have a cover charge. Here we will publish a list of parties and whether or not there will be a cover charge, and of course the opportunity to buy tickets online at a reduced pre-sale price.

Experience dancers and musicians from neighbouring and far away countries; taste various cuisines or purchase original goods. For children there are plenty of competitions and workshops, while adults can enjoy several great concerts. Same as in past years the entry is free.
Hourly evening concerts are traditionally the biggest crowd-puller.

What's on in Prague this December!

Prague is always a great place to be in December the festive season gets of to a great start with the opening of the traditional Christmas markets. The main markets in Wencelas Square and Old Town Square are a must for anyone spending time here in December; other smaller markets in Namesti Repuliky and Namest Miru are also worth a look and a perfect opportunity to get a glass of hot wine and some delicious roast ham.
Markets are open until Christmas Eve, the Christmas tree at Old Town Square is lit up every night at 5pm and carols are sung daily by choirs from the early afternoon until the evening. All very festive!
As always DOX gallery has on some excellent and thought provoking exhibitions if all the excess of the festive season and mass consumerism start to get to be a bit much a visit here will be a much needed breath of fresh air. Thanks to the kind people at DOX entrance for PLUS Prague guests is now half price. Prague’s best contemporary art gallery for 3 Euro’s that really is not to be missed!
If you are in Prague over the winter you have to see a hockey game it the Czech national sport and they are world beaters get along to our local team Sparta Prague who have home games on the 9th, 22nd and 28th December. The stadium is only 5 minutes from the hostel by tram!
If huge all night raves are your thing then you’ll be going to Magnetic Festival taking polace on the 14th Dec from 8pm until 6am, billing itself as “The European electronic dance music experience for the new generation!” it is Letnany very close to us with a strong line up including Hardwell, Ddada life and Bass Jackers, It going to be immense!

Prague Museum Night is here again on the 9th June 2012 from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m.
For the ninth year in a row, museums and cultural institutions in Prague will open their doors to visitors at an unusual time: at night, after hours. This extraordinary event, which is visited by more than 100,000 people every year, presents a unique opportunity to explore the cultural treasures of the Czech capital in a completely different ambiance.
On Saturday, 9th June, 2012, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., museums, galleries and other cultural institutions will be open to Prague residents and visitors.
The event is put on by the National Museum, the Prague Public Transport Company and the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries in cooperation with other institutions, and co-funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the municipal authorities of Prague.

The United Islands music festival is happening from the 21-23 June featuring cool bands including Afro Celt Sound System and Time Switch.
Other cool musical stuff includes the Music Eagles of Death Metal (US) + Rival Sons (US) on the 19/6 at 20:30 as well as Music Gonjasufi (Warp Records / US). For tickets for both head to ticketpro.
